
During official talks with his Brazilian counterpart, Michel Temer, in Moscow on Wednesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin hailed the cooperation between the two countries in the field of technologies.
Putin noted that Russia and Brazil already cooperate closely in space exploration and that there are plans to develop cooperation in Earth monitoring from space.
“We see good prospects for supporting existing technology alliances and establishing new ones,” said Putin, according to a transcript published on the official Kremlin website.

“One such alliance has been formed by the Skolkovo Foundation [the international tech hub under completion on the outskirts of Moscow] and the Brazil’s Tecnopuc innovative center [the Science and Technology Park of Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul],” noted the Russian president.
A Skolkovo delegation had visited Brazil earlier that year, and Brazilian delegations at a ministerial level have visited Skolkovo several times. Several Skolkovo companies have joint projects with Brazilian partners, including in the field of telecoms.
During the Startup Village event earlier this month, Skolkovo signed a memorandum of understanding with Tecnopuc.
Another memorandum of cooperation is expected to be signed between Skolkovo and Brazil’s Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovations and Communications in the near future. The agreement foresees the carrying out of joint scientific research and the joint development and commercialisation of new technologies.
Besides, a number of bilateral documents were signed following this week’s talks in Moscow, including memorandums of understanding on economic and investment cooperation, and on organizing an information exchange on goods and vehicles moving between Russia and Brazil.
The two presidents also discussed strengthening cultural and humanitarian cooperation and exchanged views on key regional and international issues.
“Russia and Brazil have many things in common,” the Kremlin website cited Temer as saying.
“Our countries both have vast territories and large populations, and our economies have many similarities as well,” the Brazilian leader said.
